API basic overview

Information provided by the API

Mergeflow’s API provides other software solutions with access to the structured data that are extracted by Mergeflow’s analytics from raw text contents. These contents include R&D publications, patents, business and finance news, blogs, and other sources. Below are examples of information that the API provides for any search.

Fundings

Fundings include venture capital and public research fundings.

Information available via the API:

  • Funded entity type (company, organization, or project)
  • Entity name
  • Funding amount (converted to USD)
  • Funding event date

Entities information

Entities (people, companies, technologies, patent classes, materials, and others) identified in documents related to the query.

Information available via the API:

  • Entity type (e.g. person, company, etc.)
  • Entity name
  • Relevance score (with respect to the text from which the entity was extracted)

Distribution over time

  • Names of the connected entities
  • Connection strength (the more common contexts, the stronger the connection)

Tag clouds

In addition to entities, Mergeflow also extracts more general keywords from documents. A special case are “rising keywords”, i.e. keywords that occur more often recently than one would have expected based on their previous, longer-term, distribution over time.

Information available via the API:

  • Keyword
  • Relevance score (with respect to the text from which the keyword was extracted)

Document information

Return information on the documents themselves that are related to the query.
